📖 Read: Class 9B writes its own rules أقرأ
In September, the pupils of class 9B in a preparatory school in Nabeul had a cool idea: they decided to write their class rules themselves. “Last year our classroom was too loud,” says Firas, the class delegate. “This year we are going to change that.”
Here are some of their rules:
- We are going to arrive on time. Nobody can come in late unless they have a good reason.
- We are going to listen when someone is speaking.
- We aren’t going to use our phones in class.
- We are going to stay awake! Nobody is going to fall asleep on the desk after lunch.
The pupils also thought about safety. “We know what to do in a fire or an earthquake,” says Nour. “We are practising the safety drill with our science teacher next Tuesday.”
Sana drew the poster herself, and the whole class signed it. On Friday, they are presenting it to the headmistress. “I dream of a calm, happy classroom,” Sana says. “If we respect the rules and believe in ourselves, we’ll enjoy ourselves too!”

A model text to compare with (after writing mine)
This year, our class is going to be the best in the school! First, we are going to arrive on time, and nobody is going to come in late unless there is a serious problem. Second, we aren’t going to shout: loud voices make everybody tired. Third, we are going to raise our hands before we speak. We aren’t going to use our phones during lessons, of course. Finally, we are going to keep our classroom clean and tidy. We are presenting these rules to our teacher on Monday morning. We wrote them ourselves, so we are going to respect them!
One good example among many: compare, don’t copy.
